Oshawa Forklift Training Programs

Oshawa Forklift Training Programs - Are you looking for work as a driver of a forklift? Our regulatory-compliant mobile equipment operator training provides instruction in kinds of lift trucks, pre-shift inspection, fuel kinds and handling of fuels, and safe operation of a lift truck. Practical, hands-on training helps individuals participating in acquiring fundamental operational skills. Program content comprises existing regulations governing the use of forklifts. Our proven forklift courses are designed to provide training on these types of trucks: counterbalanced forklift, powered pallet trucks and narrow isle forklift.

How to Handle Loads Safely

Whilst the forklift is in operation, do not raise or lower the forks. Loads must not extend above the backrest. This is because of the risk of the load sliding back in the direction of the operator. Inspect for overhead obstacles and make sure there is sufficient clearance before raising a load. Stay away from overhead power lines. Once the load is raised straight up, tilt it back slightly.

When the load is raised the lift truck will be less steady. Make sure that no pedestrians cross under the elevated fork. The operator should not leave the forklift when the load is raised.

While handling pallets, forks should be level and high enough to go into the pallet and extend all the way underneath the load. The fork's width must provide equal distribution of weight.

Chock the wheels and set the brakes before unloading and loading the truck. The floors should be strong enough to support the weight of both the load and the forklift. Fixed jacks could be installed to be able to support a semi-trailer which is not attached to a tractor. The height of the entrance door must clear the height of the forklift by a minimum of 5 cm. Mark edges of docks, rail cars or ramps and avoid them.

Do not stay in a lift truck for a long time without correct ventilation. The inside of the truck should be well lighted and free of loose objects, obstructions and trash. Check for holes in the floor. The installation of material that are non-slip on the floor would help avoid slipping. Clear any obstacles from dockplates and docks and make certain surfaces are not wet or oily.

Never push or tow other vehicles using a forklift.
