Oshawa Bucket Truck Training - The bucket truck training program is a program that is intended to efficiently train operators who are qualified so they can reduce the chance of incident and personal injury while working in close proximity to or with bucket trucks or also referred to as vehicle-mounted aerial work platform. An aerial lift device refers to any vehicle-mounted device, telescoping or articulating, or both, that is used to position workers to reach places which would otherwise be not accessible. Aerial lift devices are used to be able to elevate workers to above-ground work locations.

The program aims to provide operators with the skills, knowledge, training materials and abilities needed to be able to efficiently and safely operate vehicle-mounted aerial work platforms.

The program comprises a classroom training session and a hands-on training session. To be able to become certified, participants must be successful in both components. A full-size certificate and a wallet-size certificate would be given upon completing the program.

Kinds of lifts include extensible boom platforms, articulating boom platforms, vertical towers, aerial ladders and aerial ladder trucks and any combination of these devices. Aerial lift devices are normally constructed with wood, metal, reinforced plastic, fiberglass or other materials.

Definitions
Articulating boom platform: has two or more hinged boom components.
Extensible boom platform: has either an extensible boom or a telescopic boom.
Platform: the part of an aerial device which is designed to carry workers.
Mobile unit: a combination of aerial devices, like for example its vehicle and related machinery.

Employees who work with aerial devices have the responsibility of ensuring that they are properly authorized and trained. Employees must ensure that individuals who are not trained and authorized do not use lift devices. Workers should ensure that they are wearing the correct protective equipment if working from the platform.

Course content consists of operation of the vehicle-mounted aerial work platform, pre-shift inspection, safe operating practices, lifting capacity, use of emergency controls, and administering practical and theory tests. Operators would learn rules under the local and federal regulations.
